Parentkind: Parent Guide to School Complaints

Parentkind, the national charity whose mission is to give those with a parenting role a voice in education, has published guidance for parents in relation to school complaints. The guidance is co-badged with the DfE and Ofsted. The principle underpinning the guidance is that the best way to resolve concerns is through clear, respectful communication. The guidance has five steps:

  1. What kind of issue is it?

  2. Who in the school do I go to?

  3. How do I raise my complaint?

  4. When to expect a response?

  5. Where to escalate a complaint?

The guidance also contains a helpful section on how complaints go wrong
