Sports Hall Athletics

Well done to our Sports Hall Athletics team!Well done to our Year 5 & 6 athletes who ran, jumped and threw superbly to come third in our

inter-school partnership local Sports Hall Athletics heat!

20 or so athletes from Garsington represented the school in the local heat at Wheatley Park Sports Centre and they put on a solid sporting show.

An excited and very proud Mrs Theobalds (Y5 Teacher & Sports Lead) and Mr Guy (TA & Sports Club/ASC Leader) were delighted with the team's performance and their representation of the school.

Mrs Theobalds said "The children behaved in a very sportsman like way and showed great determination and team spirit!"

What is Sports Hall Athletics?

Sportshall Athletics Competitions take place annually each winter and are organised in conjunction with the School Sports Partnership. The competitions are targeted at those in Years 5 & 6 and teams will include both boys and girls, with a minimum of 9 and a maximum of 12 pupils of each gender.

The competitions will consist of both track and field events including javelin, chest push, speed bounce, vertical jump, standing jump and triple jump.

The competitions start in January and there are six local heat competitions. The teams who finish first and second at each of these venues will be invited to attend the South Oxfordshire District Final at Icknield Community College on Friday 24th February. The winner and runner up of the District Final will represent South Oxfordshire

at the School Games in April.
